• Stuck Washer or Dryer? If a machine takes your money or stops mid-cycle, note the machine number and submit a quick refund slip at the Verano Housing Office desk.
• Resident Courtesy: Set a 30-minute phone timer so clothes are cleared promptly for fellow student families waiting with laundry baskets.

Keep our courtyards clean and avoid costly $100+ university abandonment fines.

• Dumpster Enclosures: Every courtyard has dedicated grey bins (landfill trash) and blue bins (clean recyclables & cardboard boxes broken down flat).
• Bulky Furniture Warning: Leaving mattresses, couches, or desks next to dumpsters results in a university citation. Pass items along for free on the Verano Noticeboard (/bulletin).
• Free Swap First: Verano families eagerly claim working furniture, desks, and kitchenware within hours when posted to the Curb Alert & Noticeboard.
• Quarterly Bulky Waste Days: Housing hosts free electronic and bulky furniture dumpster drives at the end of each academic quarter.

Understanding Irvine weather and housing regulations on portable cooling appliances.

• Gas Wall Heaters: Old Verano units have gas wall heaters. If the pilot light goes out in winter, submit a quick work order for housing technicians to relight it safely.
• Portable AC Units: Free-standing portable air conditioners with window exhaust hoses are permitted. Window-hanging exterior units are strictly prohibited by housing safety code.
• Evening Cooling Tips: Irvine evenings cool down considerably. Opening cross-ventilation windows between 7 PM and 8 AM keeps units cool naturally without running up energy bills.

Resident garden plots and sustainable composting along Adobe Circle South.

• Garden Plots: Individual garden planter boxes are allocated annually via an open resident lottery coordinated by the resident garden committee.
• Seed Swaps: Seasonal seed exchanges happen in spring and fall among gardening residents.
